If you can’t learn to do it well, learn to enjoy doing it badly.

FINALLY!!! The book is finished. Anyways, for the last two chapters of the Outsiders, I chose the word friendship. In chapters 11 and 12, the gang goes to court to discuss if Johnny should be charged for killing Bob and if Ponyboy, Darry, and Sodapop should be put into a boys’ home. Anyways, after that, Johnny was dropped of all his charges and the brothers got to stay together. The word friendship applies to these chapters because with everything that has occurred, the boys realize that the most important thing is that they have each other. When I use the word friendship, I’m talking more about how the gang is close as a family rather than just being school friends or something. Anyways, since two of the gang’s members have died, they have become closer because they realized that each one of them were important to one another. So, again I think that the word friendship is suitable for chapters 11 and 12 of the Outsiders.

The word I chose for Chapters 9 & 10 is fear. This word almost exactly depicts what and how the characters are feeling during the chapters. The gang prepare for a “rumble” with some of the other gangs in the neighborhood, and they’re all anxious and fearful that something bad is going to occur. Since Johnny and Dally are in the hospital, the gang told them not to attend the rumble because they might get injured even more. Despite the gang’s warnings, Dally still comes to the rumble and fights the Socs. After the rumble, the Greasers won and they went to the hospital to check on Johnny because they feared that he was dying. Johnny eventually dies and Dally gets killed too. And so 2 members of the gang have been lost. So, this is why I chose the word fear.

For chapters 7 and 8 of the Outsiders, I decided that the word friendship is appropriate. I chose this word because in these chapters, the gang gets really close and they show their concern for each other. They respect each other and they care for each other like brothers. For example, Johnny was in the hospital because of his attempt to save the children in the burning church and the gang goes to visit him. They say show their friendship towards each other by sticking together and appreciating that they have each other. So, friendship is the word I chose.

For the 5th and 6th chapters of the Outsiders, I think the word survival is suitable. The reason I think this is because after they killed the Soc, they were fugitives looking for a place to hide. They soon found a church in Windrixville and they had to hide there so no one could find them. While they were hiding, they had to find ways to survive in the church. So again, survival is what I think Chapters 5 and 6 are all about.
